The chances of Conor McGregor arranging a boxing super-fight with WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao appear to have improved after the latter’s promoter spoke positively of the fight prospects.
Top Rank CEO Bob Arum praised The Notorious as the best mixed martial arts has to offer before commenting positively on the chances of McGregor meeting Pacquiao in the four-sided circle, per the Daily Express:
“Conor McGregor is a good athlete and he is the best at MMA. But MMA and boxing are two different sports. So it’s a lot of talk, everybody is having a lot of fun about it and sure Manny Pacquiao wants to fight Conor McGregor in boxing. Any boxer would like to fight Conor McGregor because they would knock him out.”
Speculation has suggested McGregor and retired veteran Floyd Mayweather Jr. were close to setting up a cross-sport fixture of their own, but attention could soon switch to Pacquiao’s camp.
