Victory at the 2017 WGC Match Play Championship has kept American all star Dustin Johnson ahead of his peers in the Masters 2017 odds as he pips Jordan Spieth to top spot, according to the bookmakers.
The in-form South Carolina native is a 6/1 (7.00) frontrunner to clinch the heralded green jacket this year, with Spieth just behind at 7/1 (8.00) and Rory McIlroy following in third at odds of 8/1 (9.00).
The odds appear to be stacked against reigning champion Danny Willett, who will have to buck a major trend if he’s to retain his title, considering only Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods have ever done so.
Veteran Phil Mickelson is capable of great things, however, and whether form be on his side or not, the 46-year-old could be worth a punt out at 25/1 (26.00), while four-time winner Tiger Woods is a massive 100/1 (101.00).
