Mark Reckless has lived up to his last name and quit Ukip. The former Tory MP has quit the party to support the Conservative group in the Welsh assembly. The move might seem out of the blue, but has, in fact, been expected by Ukip after Reckless cut contact with the party in the days leading up to his resignation. His decision to leave comes hot off the heels of Douglas Carswell, who just last month left Ukip to sit in the Commons as an independent.
If you’re wondering whose next, you’re not alone as many punters have taken to their favourite betting sites to wager on the future of Ukip and its leaders. The main odds apply to the next elected Ukip leader after Paul Nuttal. It seems the odds are riding on Nigel Farage at 2/1, followed closely by Arron Banks at 4/1. The odds of Suzanne Evans taking the leadership role are 10/1, while Peter Whittle and Raheem Kassamare tied at 12/1.
