Brighton and Hove Albion saw their Championship promotion bid delayed on Friday after a 2-0 defeat at Norwich City left the Seagulls seven points free at the head of the standings.
The leaders’ first defeat in six matches means little for their Premier League hopes considering Brighton sealed their promotion already, although their odds of winning the Championship title dropped from a surefire 1/33 (1.03) to a slightly less certain 1/12 (1.08).
Second-placed Newcastle United—seven points off the summit and six points above the play-offs—remain a shoo-in to bounce back to the Premier League at odds of 1/100 (1.01), while Huddersfield Town, currently fourth with a game in hand over their peers, come in as a favourable 2/1 (3.00) shot.
With three games remaining for most sides, there isn’t much to separate fifth-placed Sheffield Wednesday and sixth-placed Fulham, priced at 3/1 (4.00) and 7/2 (3.50), respectively.
Despite being third at present, Reading remain a dark horse to move up and are 4/1 (5.00) for promotion as things stand, and Leeds United complete the pack at 5/1 (6.00) as they sit seventh, level on points with the Cottagers.
