Saracens have stuck on course for a second successive European Rugby Champions Cup title triumph after dashing Munster’s hopes of a challenge on the trophy with a 26-10 win at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.
Clermont Auvergne later defeat Leinster 27-22 at the State de Gerland and will contest for this season’s continental crown against one of England’s strongest representatives—not to mention quite possibly the best club team in the northern hemisphere.
In a meeting of titans, Saracens will hope to become just the fourth club ever to win back-to-back European tournaments, not to mention becoming the first team to win success Champions Cup crowns since the competition’s rebrand.
The Aviva Premiership team were dominant in their semi-final clash against Munster in Ireland’s capital, proving a game on foreign soil doesn’t faze head coach Mark McCall’s side.
Clermont were somewhat shakier in their semi-final meeting against Irish giants Leinster, however, and Sarries will look to oust another of the Top 14’s finest one year after beating Racing 92 to Champions Cup glory.
