Glenn Jacobs, who played the masked demon Kane in the WWE, announced on Tuesday that he’ll be running for mayor of Knox County, Tennessee. The wrestling star, who is known for his strong libertarian views, will be running as a Republican. In speaking about his decision to run, Jacobs said, “This is a great place to work, live and raise a family. I want to do my part to make sure it remains a great place and that out future is as bright as ever.”
If you think the chances of Jacobs winning the elections are slim, think again. According to bookies, the odds of Jacobs clinching the title is 4/6, while some bet their money on Bob Thomas with 15/8 odds, while Sheriff J.J Jones has 2/1 odds and Tracy Clough at 7/1.
Jacobs is hardly the first wrestler-turned-politician. Jesse “The Body” Ventura became the governor of Minnesota in 1999, while former WWE CEO Linda McMahon currently serves as administrator of the Small Business Council. And let’s not forget current US president Donald Trump, who may not have been a wrestler, but spent so much time inside the ring that he has a place in the WWE Hall of Fame.
