Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is refusing to give up on his side’s chances of staging a late run at the 2016-17 Premier League title and said the north Londoners can put “psychological pressure” on leaders Chelsea following Sunday’s 2-0 win over Arsenal.
Spurs climbed back within four points of the Blues thanks to their most recent victory at White Hart Lane, after which Pochettino suggested his squad will keep fighting until it’s mathematically impossible for his side to take the crown:
“We are in the race and the gap is back to four points. We have to be focused now. We have another big game against West Ham on Friday, another difficult derby. That could be a chance to put psychological pressure on Chelsea. We play before them and, if we win, we will see what happens when Chelsea play Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge on Monday.”
Both Spurs and Chelsea have four games remaining, although it’s Tottenham who boast an advantage in goal difference as things stand.
