Paris Saint-Germain will go up against fellow French powerhouse Lyon for this season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League crown on Saturday, June 1 after the pair progressed past their respective semi-final foes on Saturday.
Lyon succumbed to a 1-0 home defeat in the second leg of their meeting with Manchester City, but a 2-0 triumph at the Academy Stadium first leg a week earlier was sufficient to seal a 2-1 aggregate win overall.
Meanwhile, PSG hammered Barcelona 5-1 on aggregate and topped off their victory with a 2-0 result at home in Saturday’s second leg, setting up an all-French affair in Cardiff four weeks from now.
Lyon may well be seen as favourites to taste European glory considering they currently hold the Champions League title, not to mention they lead the Feminine Division 1 by five points and are on their way to an 11th successive domestic league triumph.
