UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk successfully defended their titles at UFC 211 in Dallas, Texas on Saturday evening.
Saturday’s victory was particularly sweet for Miocic after he gained redemption against Junior Dos Santos—the man responsible for one of his two UFC defeats—with a first-round knockout of the Brazilian veteran, successfully defending his heavyweight crown for the second time.
Meanwhile, Jedrzejczyk completed her fifth successive UFC women’s strawweight title defence following a decisive unanimous-decision victory over former women’s bantamweight Jessica Andrade.
Miocic, 34, was dominant in his rematch with Dos Santos and ended the match after less than two-and-a-half minutes in the octagon, an indication of how comfortable he’s grown to become with the belt.
No UFC heavyweight champion has ever defended their title more than two time, but the Cleveland native will be aiming to topple those odds and break the record, potentially with a bout later this year.
