Rafael Nadal is already the most successful player in French Open victory with nine championship wins to his name, and British tennis great Tim Henman has said a 10th title for the Spanish icon would be “incredible.”
Nadal showed his class en route to a 6-1 6-4 6-3 beating of Robin Haase to advance to the competition’s third round on Wednesday, while Novak Djokovic has also shown some impressive form at Roland Garros and is also in the third round of the tournament.
A win in Paris this month would see Nadal become the first player in the Open Era to ever win 10 Grand Slam titles, an achievement Henman has lauded as something quite unique:
“It would be such an incredible achievement by such an incredible player. You can’t even fathom it. A lot of people don’t win 10 tournaments, let alone 10 Grand Slams at one venue.”
Nadal reminds the hot favourite to take this year’s crown at odds of 8/11 (1.73), while reigning champion Djokovic is a distant second at 4/1 (5.00) as things stand.
