Despite losing his UFC light heavyweight championship at UFC 214 last month, Daniel Cormier may have a chance at regaining his belt sooner than expected after it was reported Jon Jones has failed a drugs test.
The UFC announced on Tuesday that the United States Anti-Doping Agency had informed Jones of a “potential Anti-Doping Policy violation,” which could see the 30-year-old lose the title he defeated Cormier to regain.
This would be Jones’ second drug violation if found guilty of the fresh accusations, having been pulled from the UFC 200 card in July 2016 after he was tested positive for two different estrogen blockers.
Cormier, 38, has taken a vacation from fighting since the third-round TKO loss to Jones, but he may fancy his chances of reclaiming what was so recently his now that it could be up for grabs.
