Valtteri Bottas finished fastest on Friday as Mercedes clinched an impressive one-two in the both first and second practice ahead of the 2017 Italian Grand Prix on Sunday.
Lewis Hamilton topped the times in the morning practice session before Bottas set the pace with a quickest lap of one minute and 21.406 seconds in the second outing.
And Bottas has enjoyed a jump in the odds as a result of his performance. The Finn opened Friday as a 9/2 (5.50) dark horse for the title at Monza, but he’s since dropped down to second-favourite at 7/2 (4.50).
That price could hold great value if Bottas finds his grove over the remaining days of the weekend, especially considering team-mate Hamilton is the only man ahead of him at very low odds of 2/5 (1.40).
Sebastian Vettel finished second practice in third and remains out at 9/2 (5.50) to win this weekend as he seeks to hold onto a seven-point advantage at the head of the Formula 1 drivers’ standings.
