Venus Williams defeated heavy-hitting Petra Kvitova 6-3 3-6 7-6 (7-2) to reach the U.S. Open semi-finals on Tuesday, and she’ll face fellow American Sloane Stephens in an effort to reach her third major final of the year.
The 37-year-old is a joint-second-favourite for the U.S. Open crown alongside countrywoman Madison Keys and is priced at 3/1 (4.00) with Bet Stars, although Czech star Karolina Pliskova—who is set to face CoCo Vandeweghe in her quarter-final meeting on Wednesday—is a 11/4 (3.75)
frontrunner for the American major.
Williams’ semi-final opponent Stephens is targeting her first appearance in a Grand Slam major but will face a foe who has won this competition twice in her career, boasting seven major crowns overall.
Estonian Kaia Kanepi is the major underdog to win the 2017 U.S. Open and is listed at 25/1 (26.00) ahead of her quarter-final against yet another American contender, Keys.
