World champions Germany have taken Brazil’s place at the summit of the FIFA rankings, but it’s France who are still the frontrunners to win next year’s World Cup in Russia.
Germany won both their recent World Cup qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Norway, but Die Mannschaft are no longer the outright favourites to clinch success in Moscow.
Les Bleus have dropped as low as 5/1 (6.00) with bookmakers Sky Bet after they could be found at 6/1 (7.00) just a month ago, an indication as to how support for their upcoming World Cup campaign has grown of late.
Germany are only just off the pace and are 11/2 (6.50) runners-up with Sky Bet at present, while Portugal, who climbed three places to third in the latest FIFA rankings, are all the way out at 25/1 (26.00).
Spain remain outside FIFA’s top 10 and are still 11th in the rankings, although their recent results have boosted support in a World Cup run, rising from 8/1 (9.00) to an improved 7/1 (8.00).
