Chelsea Ladies have quickly taken up their spot as favourites to win this season’s Women’s Super League title after defeating Bristol City Women 6-0 in their first match of the new campaign.
The west London outfit are priced at 13/8 (2.63) to win the 2017-18 Women’s Super League title with Coral, although big spenders Manchester City are only just behind them at odds of 7/4 (2.75).
Drew Spence, Fran Kirby, Maren Mjelde (two), Magdalena Eriksson and Gilly Flaherty were all on the scoresheet for Chelsea in their one-sided hammering of Bristol City, giving the WSL Spring Series champions the start to the new campaign they were seeking.
Chelsea and Manchester City finished last season’s Women’s Super League season first and second, respectively, and have been slated to embark on another two-horse race come the end of this term.
Meanwhile, two-time winners Arsenal are also among the top contenders at odds of 11/4 (3.75), although it’s a steep drop from the north Londoners, with fourth-favourites Liverpool out at 14/1 (15.00).
