Sam Allardyce is the new favourite to take over the Everton manager hot seat after admitting he would “have to consider” the offer if it was made to him.
Allardyce left Crystal Palace in May, less than one year after he was forced to resign from the England manager role as a result of a corruption investigation, but could be set for an early return to the Premier League.
Appearing on beIN Sports alongside pundits Richard Keys and Andy Gray, the former Bolton Wanderers boss said: “Who knows? I’d have to consider that, if that phone call happens. There’s no point in speculating at the moment. David Unsworth is in the chair.”
Allardyce rose to odds of 2/1 (3.00) with Ladbrokes following the comments, having previously been listed as a 6/5 dark horse the day before making those remarks.
Burnley boss Sean Dyche is still among the top contenders and is listed at 3/1 (4.00)—just ahead of 4/1 (5.00) Watford manager Marco Silva—while former Toffees chief David Moyes remains an underdog at 8/1 (9.00).
