United States President Donald Trump has reiterated his intention to build a wall separating his nation from bordering neighbours Mexico just days after being inaugurated.
It’s been reported Trump is expected to sign numerous executive orders relating to immigration and border security in the coming days, and the leader of the United States has suggested a Mexico border wall ranks highly on his list of priorities.
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday evening, Trump wrote: “Big day planned on national security tomorrow. Among many other things, we will build the wall!”
The construction of a wall between Mexico and the Unites States has long been one of Trump’s major policies in his 2016 U.S. Presidential election run, with the divide expected to run a distance of 2,000 miles.
According to BBC News, the wall would cost around $8 billion (£6.4 million) to build, and although Trump has stood firm on the notion Mexico will pay for its construction, it’s since been said the United States could later take on the bill from their neighbours.
