One of the biggest horse racing events of any calendar year has finally got underway as the Cheltenham Festival makes its way back into public view for the second-largest prize money draw in the sport.
The biggest events of the festival won’t take place until this weekend, but Day Two brings with it an intriguing list of races and contenders vying for early glory in Gloucestershire.
In the RSA Novices’ Chase, fans will want to keep one eye on 11/4 shot Might Bite, who has won two of his last three races, failing only to make that a hat-trick sweet after falling in his December outing at Kempton.
As for the heavier favourites in action on Wednesday, it’s hard to go against Douvan in the Queen Mother Champion Chase with jockey Ruby Walsh aboard.
The 1/4 shoo-in should be as good as guaranteed to take top spot with a terrifying record of 14 wins and just one second-place finish in his 15 race outings.
