England trio Owen Farrell, Joe Launchbury and Mary Itoje have each been nominated for the 2017 Six Nations Player of the Championship award after leading three country to this year’s crown, it’s been announced.
Coach Eddie Jones’ side fell short of their Grand Slam aspirations on Saturday after slipping to a Week 5 defeat against Ireland in Dublin, but that hasn’t stopped them receiving the most nominees of any country in the vote.
Ireland, Wales, France and Scotland each boast two nominees apiece, with Conor Murray and CJ Stander put forth for Joe Schmidt’s runners-up, while Welsh scrum-half is joined by hooker team-mate Ken Owens in the ballot.
Scottish fly-half Finn Russell features alongside team-mate and last year’s winner, Stuart Hogg, while Louis Picamoles and Camille Lopez—this year’s top points scorer in the competition—get France’s votes and Sergio Parisse is Italy’s sole representative.
Audiences can vote for their pick via the official Six Nations website.
