Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has insisted Tottenham Hotspur hold an advantage over his side in that the north Londoners are more acquainted with their manager, Mauricio Pochettino.
Speaking ahead of Monday’s clash between Chelsea and Middlesbrough—a game where the Blues can move seven points clear at the top of the standings should they win—Conte voiced his opinion that Pochettino’s familiarity with the Premier League gives him and his men a distinct edge:
“I think Tottenham have an advantage, if you compare Tottenham to Chelsea. This is my first season and I found a lot of situations, a lot of players. Mauricio Pochettino has been working there for three years and has changed a lot of players and is working very well. For me, Tottenham are a really strong team and it’s normal to see them fighting for the title.”
Spurs dropped off the pace after losing 1-0 at West Ham United on Friday, while Chelsea can also relegate Boro should the Stamford Bridge hosts emerge victorious on Monday.
