The West Indies will be facing a mountainous task in their bid to beat England over the course of a three-Test series this month, according to Caribbean cricket legend, Sir Curtly Ambrose.
England are runaway favourites to win the tussle and are listed 1/5 (1.20) to win the series with Coral, while the West Indies sit at the other end of the spectrum and are 50/1 (51.00) to come out on top.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 live Sport, former West Indies international Ambrose expressed concern for his old side based on their recent form:
“I am concerned with the way we are playing. I am hoping they can at least win one Test or compete, but, as a realist, I am not too sure they will.”
England’s favourite status is also illustrated by the fact captain Joe Root’s men are at relatively short odds of 5/6 (1.83) to win the series with three wins from three, although there may be more value to be had in the 8/1 (9.00) price offered on a 2-1 triumph.
