Riyad Mahrez is reportedly expected back at the King Power Stadium after the Leicester City winger didn’t travel with the Algeria national team for their recent fixtures in the hope of securing a deadline-day transfer.
Algeria travelled to Zambia on Thursday, but Mahrez stayed behind amid speculation he could be a target for a number of European giants, one of whom was said to be Barcelona.
According to Sky Sports, Barcelona is Mahrez’s “dream destination,” but the Blaugrana aren’t expected to launch a late approach for the wide man despite the fact Spain’s transfer window doesn’t close until Friday evening.
A move to the Camp Nou certainly doesn’t seem likely considering Mahrez is a 9/2 (5.50) shot to join the Blaugrana as things stand, while he’s 1/8 (1.13) to remain at the King Power beyond Sunday.
Mahrez will be particularly saddened to have learnt Danny Drinkwater has completed a deadline-day move to Chelsea, meanwhile, robbing the Foxes of one of the major stars of 2015-16’s title-winning season.
