Chris Froome has spoken of a win at next year’s Tour de France as a priority despite only just coming off the back of his victory in the 2017 Vuelta a Espana.
The British cyclist spoke to BBC Radio 5 live Sportsweek following this weekend’s triumph in Spain, Froome took no time in outlining his focus for 2018: “A fifth Tour de France title will take my aim but it’s early days and I’ll wait to see what the Giro, Tour and Vuelta courses look like next year and sit down with my team to draw up the goals.”
Froome became the first cyclist ever to win the Vuelta a Espana after winning a Tour de France title in the same year, finally cracking Spain’s blockbuster at the sixth attempt, having finished second in 2011, 2014 and 2016.
He’s the runaway favourite to win a fifth Tour title in Paris next year, too, as William Hil have the Briton backed at 5/6 (1.83), while Tom Dumoulin of the Netherlands and Australian Richie Porte follow at a quite distant 9/2 (5.50).
