The United Kingdom “will soon regret” its decision to leave the European Union, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has said.
Appearing in a state of the union speech in Strasbourg on Wednesday, Juncker responded to UK Independence Party MEPs after they cheered the mention of Britain’s departure from the EU, saying: “I think you will regret it as well soon, if I might say.”
Officially, Brexit is slated to got through on 30 March 2019, which will mark two years since the United Kingdom triggered Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty.
However, punters can still back there to be a turnaround in Brexit—or a delay at the very least—with Ladbrokes offering 3/1 (4.00) odds on Britain still being a full member of the EU on January 1st, 2020.
The bookmakers are also providing 7/2 (4.50) odds on there being another UK EU referendum before the end of 2019, with opinion among the population still very much divided heading toward Brexit.
