Betfair Politics Odds: Theresa May Exit Date Odds Fall After Chaotic Conservative Conference

Theresa May’s time as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom appears to be drawing to a close, and commentators say the “distraught” politician could be ousted from Downing Street by Christmas.

That’s after the Telegraph reported as many as 30 conservative MPs could be ready to sign a letter requesting her resignation.

This week saw the annual Conservative Party Conference reach fever pitch when an unwell May—suffering with a cold—did her best to power through a speech she delivered, but only succeeded in showing more weakness to those who would have her leave her position as PM.

Betfair are offering prices on when May will exit Downing Street, and the first quarter of 2018 looks the most plausible option at 19/10 (2.90), the same selection that had odds of 7/1 (8.00) at the end of August. A 2017 departure is still very much on the cards, however, and has similarly fallen to 21/10 (3.10).

Metro reported foreign secretary Boris Johnson is the favourite to succeed May and is a 5/1 (6.00) punt at present, with David Davis and Jacob Rees-Mogg priced at 13/2 (7.50) and 8/1 (9.00), respectively.
