World heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua may have only just defended his belts with a stoppage win over Carlos Takam on Saturday, but the British phenom is already teasing more title fights to come.
Speaking after Saturday’s 10th-round win against mandatory challenger Takam, Joshua spoke of potential clashes against WBC champion Deontay Wilder and WBO title-holder Joseph Parker:
“The possibilities are bubbling nicely in the distance. I’m not worried about 2018 because of the potential possibilities to come. I want the other two belts out there, whether it’s Wilder first or Parker.”
Joshua looked far from his best against Takam but has nevertheless been touted as heavy 1/3 (1.33) favourite to beat Wilder should they meet, while the Bronze Bomber is 9/4 (3.25) underdog.
A fight against Parker might serve as the easier challenge of the two, whereas any meeting with Wilder will be seen as a major step on Joshua’s career and taking his talents to a global audience.
